In the cycle, the physical and psychological struggles are rendered visible through distortions of a fragmented, doubled, turned inside-out body. I emphasize the fundamental role of facial expression. I tried to break the traditional image of the face and destroy the convention of its presentation. The manipulation of one’s own face and the rejection of masking are an attempt to reveal ourselves, to expose what we usually try to hide.
